DDR4 is so cheap nowadays that you would be stupid if you dont go for 2x8, but if you're REALLY tight for cash and can't get 16 without sacrificing something else in your build, 8 will be fine for the time being. if it was me though, id find a way to scratch the extra 10 bucks or so to get 16.
