The most striking difference between Christian and Muslim theologies is that while, for Christians, God is a person, Muslims worship an impersonal deity. Despite the importance of this difference for a host of theological issues, it is a difference which has gone largely unnoticed by Christians and Muslims alike.

In the four Gospels, there is ample evidence that Jesus was fully human since He was born to a human mother (Matthew 1:25), He experienced hunger (Matthew 21:18) and thirst (John 19:28). Jesus also experienced temptation (Matthew 4:1) pain and suffering (Matthew 16:21), and He died (Matthew (27:50).
When Jesus says “God is spirit,” He simply teaches what the Father is like — divine, not limited by physical corporeality, life-giving, and incomprehensible. As human beings we are defined by our locality. We can be localized at one particular place at one particular time.
The Holy Spirit Is a Divine Person: He Is God. Throughout the Bible it is clear that the Holy Spirit is God Himself. This is seen in the attributes which are given to the Holy Spirit in Scripture, for example. Without exception these attributes are those of God Himself.

People commonly argue that the Holy Spirit is a person because of the masculine demonstrative pronoun (ekeinos) in John 14:26; 15:26; and 16:13–14. The argument is that this proves that the Holy Spirit is a person because the grammatically masculine ekeinos refers back to the grammatically neuter pneuma.
