The Army High Command (ACE) of Brazil is formed by the Army Commander and other army generals in active service. The country currently holds sixteen active 4-star generals, several of then in command posts, in addition to a post in the Ministry of Defence.
There are currently 44 active-duty four-star officers in the uniformed services of the United States: 13 in the Army, three in the Marine Corps, eight in the Navy, 14 in the Air Force, three in the Space Force, two in the Coast Guard, and one in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.
Five men have held the rank of General of the Army (five star), George C. Marshall, Douglas MacArthur, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Omar Bradley, and Henry H. Arnold, who later became the only five-star general in the Air Force.
There is no official "6-star" general, however there is a "General of the Armies of the United States". This rank, which has been awarded to two generals, is not officially recognized as 6-stars. The two generals to be honored with this designation were General John Jay Pershing and General George Washington.
The five-star ranks were retired in 1981 on the death of General of the Army Omar Bradley. Nine Americans have been promoted to five-star rank, one of them, Henry H.

Under his command the Third Army swept into Germany and into Czechoslovakia. In April 1945, Patton was promoted to temporary four-star general but was removed by Eisenhower from his leadership of the Third Army for making inflammatory remarks concerning the denazification policies.
Wading ashore at Leyte on October 20, 1944, MacArthur kept his promise to return to the Philippines. Shortly thereafter, MacArthur was made a five-star general – one of only five men elevated to the five star rank of General of the Army.
No person have ever been awarded or promoted to a seven-star rank, although some commentators might argue that General George Washington posthumously became a seven-star general in 1976 (see Part Seven).
Only three U.S. officers have held a rank higher than General of the Army or Fleet Admiral: John J. Pershing, George Washington and Ulysses S. Grant, who hold the rank of General of the Armies.
Leahy, King, and Nimitz were promoted to the rank in December 1944, followed by Halsey in December 1945. While all four men effectively retired in the late 1940s, the rank of fleet admiral is for life. The last active fleet admiral was Nimitz, who died in 1966.

Admiral is one of the highest ranks in some navies. In the Commonwealth nations and the United States, a "full" admiral is equivalent to a "full" general in the army or the air force. Admiral is ranked above vice admiral and below admiral of the fleet, or fleet admiral.
Measured in terms of his strategic accomplishments viewed against the resources available to him for pursuing them, no general in American history matches George Washington.
As such, you'd be hard pressed to find a living, breathing 5 star general serving in today's military (the last Five-Star rank was held by General Omar Bradley until his death in 1981).
